How long you need, visa rules, the Lamp Bear, and what you can really see in 4, 6 or 8 hours.
Hamad International is regularly voted the world's best airport, and it is genuinely a good place to spend three hours. But if you have six or more, Doha itself is 15 minutes away. Here is what to do inside, and how to get outside safely.

Our 4-hour layover tour, step by step
- 1 Your driver meets you at arrivals with a name board (flight tracked, delays covered).
- 2 20 minutes to Souq Waqif: spice lanes, falcon souq, karak tea.
- 3 Corniche drive with the Museum of Islamic Art and skyline photo stop.
- 4 The Pearl-Qatar marina (or Katara on request).

Travelling with children? Ask for a child seat — free — and we will pace the tour around nap times.
A quick map of the terminal
The Orchard garden and the Lamp Bear sit at the centre; concourses A and B fan out beside them, C is at the far south end and D/E along the north extension. Al Mourjan's Garden lounge is above the Orchard; the Oryx hotel is in the main building. Everything is inside one security zone, so you can walk end to end without re-screening — allow 20 minutes A to E, or use the train.
If you have children with you
- Play areas near gates A2 and C10; a soft-play room in the Al Mourjan family lounge.
- The Orchard's paths are pram-friendly and the koi-style water features hold small attention spans.
- Family rooms in the Oryx hotel by the hour, with a pool.
- Baby-care rooms on every concourse; pharmacies airside.
